Time Shifted Viewing measurement comes to Ireland for the first time (23/07/2010)

September 1st will see the start of a new era in TV audience research in Ireland. TAM Ireland, together with Nielsen TV Audience Measurement are bringing in the following enhancements which will further improve the media measurement system.

- An expanded panel of homes which will be one of the largest per capita in Europe. Previously at 670 homes, now at 800 and rising to 1,050 by September 2012.
- New UNITAM meters which together with enhancements to Arianna will allow Time Shifted Viewing (TSV) to be measured and reported for the first time.
- Users of TAM Ireland data will still be able to look at "Live" viewing for a daypart, programme or spot as before, but in addition to this will also be able to analyse Viewing On The Same Day As Live (VOSDAL) and also all recorded viewing to that daypart, programme or spot in the following week. This will produce Consolidated viewing i.e. all Live, VOSDAL and recorded viewing in the seven day window.

Time Shifted Viewing (TSV):
When - The first release of data will be Live and VOSDAL data on September 2nd, for viewing on the previous day i.e. September 1st.
Consolidation Window - The Consolidation Window i.e. the length of time allowed for viewers to watch recorded items, will be 7 days. Early test data shows that 87% of all recorded material is viewed at "play" within a 7 day period, with just over half watched on the day that it is recorded (VOSDAL).
Effect on Viewing - Test data suggests that Total TV viewing will be increased by around 4% for all individuals nationally. Some audiences watch more of their Total TV through TSV than others, with young adults, young housekeepers and housekeepers with children in particular adding significant amounts to their overall viewing after TSV is included. Kiran Sharma of KIKIT, Prince's representative and producer of his live shows, said: "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World in 1995 was Prince's first number one selling single as a completely free artist.

"Fifteen years on, Prince is demonstrating that in 2010 it is still possible for artists to work in an independent and innovative capacity, highlighted here in a world first of delivering the new album across multiple territories, through complementary distribution channels.

Correction- MediaLive.ie posted misleading circulation figures for the Cork Independent on January 8th 2010 (06/04/2010)

The Cork Independent figure of 65, 146 was misinterpreted as an audit of the publication's entire circulation. This is not the case, the figure given should have read as a "publishers statement" of circulation. The Cork Independent's current ABC audited "door to door" figure is 21,433. The Cork Independent does not hold an independent certificate for the remainder of its claimed circulation. We acknowledge that the headline which accompanied the article, which stated "Cork Independent free-sheet claims crown for largest certified publication in Cork", was inaccurate. We also acknowledge that the statement "with a circulation of 65,146 approved by the ABC the local paper tips Cork News to the top" was misleading. The post has been removed from the site and circulation statements amended and accredited appropriately. We apologise to any persons misled by this."
